Our renovation of 1920s-era apartment buildings in the Stevens Square Historic District began several years ago when we rehabilitated 23 properties, some of them designated historic by the Heritage Preservation Commission.

That original scope of work ranged from entry-way remodeling to the complete renovation of a building extensively damaged by fire. Project participants included HUD, the Neighborhood Revitalization Program and the Minneapolis Community Development Agency (now CPED).

The Windsor had been dismantled and haphazardly stored. Although the stone pieces had been coded, there was no key to the code, so the porte cochere had to be reassembled by referring to old photographs. Missing pieces were cut to match and the existing timber roof was reinstalled.

Recent and on-going work on more than 100 apartments in multiple buildings includes remodeling building entries, rectifying fire damage, and modernizing kitchens in a manner that retains the building’s early 20th century ambience while at the same time repositioning itself in the market.
